BBC R4 Afternoon Play ‘Dido’

Dido, a fictionalised account of the life of Dido Lindsay, a mixed-race girl who lived at Kenwood House in Hampstead in the 1760s was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in February 2005. There was also a 'live listening' in the Orangery at Kenwood and the play has been repeated and broadcast in other European territories.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Zoffany’s portrait of Dido ‘Belle’ and her cousin Elizabeth was an inspiration and setting for the drama.
